Lehman, Lee and Xu gives China business presentation to visiting Xavier MBA students.

June 11, 2004. Edward Lehman and Daniel Romans of prominent China law firm Lehman, Lee and Xu outline the potential and the pitfalls of doing business in China.

June 24, 2004 -- A group of visiting MBA students from Xavier College, Ohio, received first hand advice from China lawyers at the Peninsula Hotel, Beijing.

Edward Lehman and Daniel Romans of Lehman, Lee and Xu outlined some of the misconceptions of doing business in China. Amongst discussion of corporate structures and intellectual property issues in China, it was commented that the concept of 'guanxi' (connections), while useful, is no substitute for due diligence and good business sense. "What makes sense in the rest of the world makes sense in China, likewise overseas companies should avoid doing business in a manner which they would not do back home" said Lehman.

"Its great to illuminate the situation in China for businesspeople from abroad. The less of a mystery China is for everyone, the better conditions will be for doing business here" commented Romans.

The presentation was well received by the Xavier delegation. Clinton B Schertzer, Chair of the MBA program, thanked Lehman and Romans warmly.
